The high mountain lakes of the Cerdanya.

Lake Engorgs in La CerdanyaIn the Pyrenean region of Cerdanya, there are a whole series of high mountain lakes to be found at an altitude of some 2,000m, in an alpine environment of green pastures, great stone escarpments and peaks of up to 2,800m.. Your trip will be interesting from all points of view and good summertime weather permitting you can even have a refreshing bathe.A track takes us from the dear little village of Meranges up to the high mountain refuge situated further up. Here we have two possibilities:

Lake Malniu-An excursion to lake Malniu, located in a fantastic green mountainous area. This is a short walk of about two hours round trip, suitable for all levels of physical fitness and especially suited to families with children. I recommend that you allow enough time to have a picnic and refreshing bathe, weather permitting.

One of the Engorgs lakes-Excursion to the lakes at Engorgs. This is a six hour trek, requiring proper physical fitness.  Although the terrain is harder and more alpine in nature, the beauty and solitude are indescribable. There are five lakes of various sizes which await us at the end, amongst an incredible amphitheatre of mountains. Despite its length, this is an ideal outing for physically fit families, groups of friends and mountain sportsmen.

One day return excursions, starting off from your accommodation point, or outings of 2 or more days, including a stay in a hotel or CRP.
